Season of Death Awakening is almost here, and Blizzard has revealed a collection of new features designed to refresh the Diablo 4 experience. From improved item progression to an expanded seasonal campaign, the update offers both veterans and newcomers exciting reasons to return. Following extensive testing on the Public Test Realm, Blizzard has refined many of the upcoming systems while maintaining the core features that generated positive feedback. A Better Endgame Experience

The introduction of Mythic Uniques 3.0 changes how players approach endgame equipment. Instead of relying exclusively on random drops, heroes can now promote existing Unique items to Mythic quality.

This improvement significantly reduces gear frustration while encouraging players to continue investing in equipment they already enjoy using. It also opens the door to a wider range of viable builds, allowing greater creativity throughout the endgame.

Exciting Seasonal Activities

Ruptures provide one of the season's most entertaining additions. These portals appear throughout Sanctuary, unleashing dangerous enemies that reward brave adventurers with valuable loot once defeated.

Alongside these encounters comes an entirely new seasonal storyline centered around the investigation of an ancient Death Cult. Players can also complete an expanded Season Journey featuring 120 objectives across nine progression tiers, providing rewards throughout the season.

Free Access to the Warlock

One of Blizzard's biggest surprises is the free Warlock trial. Players who do not own the Lord of Hatred expansion can create a Warlock and play until level 30 during the limited-time event.

The class combines infernal summoning with destructive spellcasting, offering one of Diablo 4's deepest combat systems. Because all trial progress transfers after purchasing the expansion, players can continue exactly where they left off.

Additional Cosmetics Await

The season also features a crossover event with Overwatch. Defeating Elite and Champion monsters grants special currency used to unlock cosmetic rewards through a themed Reliquary.

Although premium skins remain exclusive to the in-game shop, players still have access to several free customization rewards simply by participating in seasonal gameplay.
